Dispose of Expired Medication

Expired medication should be disposed of just like expired food.
Look at the label both over the counter and prescription drugs have expiration dates. It may be small and hard to read but it’s there. If the medicine is beyond its expiration date, it may not be as effective and some medications are actually harmful if they’ve sat in your medicine cabinet for years. A good time to check for expired meds is whenever you obtain new meds like cough syrup, aspirin or antibiotics. Take a quick look through the other drugs in your possession. Remove any expired or unneeded drugs and take them to a safe, free disposal location near you.
