Don’t flush or trash your old pills, unless you want them to end up in our drinking water! A CNN report found that “A vast array of pharmaceuticals – including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones – have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans”
DO NOT FLUSH drugs down the drain or toilet. DO NOT PUT them in coffee grinds and put them in the trash. The chemicals are getting into the soil and our drinking water. Take the drugs to a disposal location in your area. When medicines are no longer needed, they should be disposed of promptly.
Consumers and caregivers should remove expired, unwanted, or unused medicines from their home as quickly as possible to help reduce the chance that others accidentally take or intentionally misuse the unneeded medicine, and to help reduce drugs from entering the environment.
